I recently had a fantastic conversation with Savina @thesavvydietitian following a comment I made on the lack of differentiation when it comes to the advice some nutritionists & dieticians are giving about fruit consumption, seemingly due to a need to not be seen to demonise any particular #food groups 😳.

Now you know I would NEVER class something as natural & #delicious as this fresh clementine as a β€˜bad’ thing to #eat BUT there would be instances where I advise certain people limit their intake or stick to specific types based on their health state πŸ’›.
.
So fruit IS a wonderful bounty of nutritional awesomeness BUT it is ALSO a source of easily accessible sugar ✨ Now in these forms (compared to a crappy chocolate bar or bag of sweets) it DOES come with other bits πŸ‘‰πŸ» vitamins, minerals, fibre etc BUT those sugars WILL still have actions in the body ☝🏻 For example driving inflammatory processes, exacerbating pain & perturbing unruly blood glucose levels 🎒 SO if these are concerns for someone then even fruit may need to be avoided for a short period πŸ˜”.

There is also context & type to be considered as a general point πŸ‘ŒπŸ» .
.
Naturally tart things like berries, green apples, pomegranate, #citrus & plums contain fractional amounts of sugar when compared to bananas, mangoes, pineapple & other exotic fruits so I always tend to say to stick to the 1st group as your main choices & turn to the others as lovely sweet treats on rarer occasions ☺️.

Basically my long ramble this #fruityfriday is trying to say YES fruit is great, NO I haven’t suddenly turned into a grumpy β€œYou can’t eat that” avatar of myself, but PLEASE be smart about it πŸ™ŒπŸ» Snacking on 5 bananas a day when your energy is all over the place versus having a bowl of raspberries is NOT the same thing AT ALL even though they’re both definitely still β€˜fruit’ πŸ˜‘.

Oh & this is a #flashbackfriday moment to those EPIC clementines you only get at Christmas….GOD I love those babies 😍.
